The Love of a Horse - Air

I remembered this post that I've written some time ago as I'm going these days back to the equestrian classes, ones that I had to stop for some time.
“Oh no! not a lounge class again. I hate those beginners. Their classes are very boring. Oooh yeah! It’s the funny girl who smells like vanilla. Ok. I like her classes. Hi girl! Where are my carrots? Don’t tell me you haven't brought any! ……. aah. After class. Ok. That’s a fair deal. Let’s finish work then eat & play. Come on. Jump over. Let’s go”.

And I went with her to the arena where we’re going to have our class. I did the usual stretching. It was the stage of riding where I’m supposed to start depending well enough on my legs & stop throwing my weight on the horse’s “raabeia” (something like a necklace worn by the horse for beginners to use).

I was told to order the horse to start trotting. I did.. the horse started trotting and we went in circles in the arena. I left the necklace. I went with the flow of the horse’s trotting.. I trusted the rhythm.. trusted myself and trusted the horse.. I stretched my arms in the air like a bird & I closed my eyes.

Air.. air was all I could feel. Air was everywhere. I felt the air blowing around my flying arms.. touching the tips of my fingers. I felt it playing with my veil.. touching my cheeks.. puffing at my eye lashes.. carrying me.. lessening my weight on the horse’s back. And I deeply inhaled as if it were the first time to breathe. I felt the air entering my lungs.. filling up my lungs.. I kept it in. I felt air everywhere.. outside, inside & all around. That was a whole lifetime in a moment. That was a moment to live. It was air.. air all around.

P.S. I owe this moment to my very close friend and brilliant equestrian trainer Captain Ayman El-Qady. The attached picture as well is taken from his blog.
Thank you.
